Fall Stormwater Cleanup - Volunteer Opportunities

Iowa City’s Fall Stormwater activity schedule is posted. Volunteers can preview what the tasks look like by going to “City of Iowa City Stormwater Volunteer Opportunities” Facebook page. All of the scheduled events, the actual locations where people would be volunteering get updated each week on the Facebook site as it depends on what’s accomplished the previous week.
- October 6th −Iowa River Cleanup - for information about participating in the annual Iowa River canoe/kayak cleanup go to the website www.iarvcp.org. There are jobs on land and water for people of all ages and skills levels during the one day event, cleaning from Iowa City to Hills Access. Canoes, vests and gloves will be provided to those who register. If you don’t have a partner we will match you up with others. This event begins at 7 am however there are shift times available throughout the day.
- October 14th −Ralston Creek Cleanup - Volunteers will be cleaning up a section of Ralston creek removing trash and woody debris from the banks reducing the risk for future flooding and erosion and improving water quality. (location will be determined the week of the event) 12- 3 pm
- October 21st −Make a Difference Day UI share day. (location will be determined the week of the event)
