UI listed in The Princeton Review's Green College guide
April 22, 2011
Just in time for Earth Day, the University of Iowa has been listed in "The Princeton Review's Guide to 311 Green Colleges."
Developed by The Princeton Review in partnership with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), the guidebook profiles institutions of higher education that demonstrate a notable commitment to sustainability in their academic offerings, campus infrastructure, activities and career preparation. The Princeton Review chose the schools for this guide based on a 2010 survey of administrators at hundreds of colleges about their individual school's sustainability initiatives.
Liz Christiansen, director of the UI Office of Sustainability was pleased that the UI was recognized for its leadership and progress in sustainability. She said the UI's commitment to building a sustainable campus is strong, from work in energy conservation and renewable energy to the undergraduate certificate in sustainability, 2020 Sustainability Targets and many student initiatives.

The Princeton Review publishers say college-bound students are increasingly interested in sustainability issues, and the guide provides application information plus facts, stats, and write-ups reporting on the schools' environmentally related policies, practices and academic offerings.
