Volunteers Needed for President's Block Party
Volunteer at the President's Block Party on Sunday, August 19 for the Green Team! The Green Team volunteers greet incoming freshman; man tri-stations and sort material into waste, compost, or recycling; and assist with sustainability efforts throughout the event. Shifts are from 4:30-6:30 p.m., 6:30-8:30 p.m., or you can choose to volunteer for the entire event from 4:30-8:30 p.m.
Last year we successfully diverted 90 percent of waste from the landfill through our composting and recycling efforts. By definition, it was a waste-free event. It could not have been done, though, without the help of our volunteers, which is why we need YOU!
The President's Block Party is part of OnIowa, campus celebration and welcome event aimed at guiding incoming first-year students through their initial days on campus and helping them transition to the University of Iowa.
All volunteers receive a Sort-Me T-shirt and a free meal. To sign-up go to http://oniowa.uiowa.edu/volunteer Click on "Individual Volunteer Sign-up Form." Fill out the required information, scroll down to the bottom of the page to the Sunday, August 19 event and select your Green Team shift(s).
