Bike Month 2017
May is National Bike Month in Johnson County and there are tons of fun bike themed activities and events for avid and occasional bikers alike. Formerly Bike to Work Week in Johnson County, the celebration is now a month long. Rides, educational programs, and meals celebrate all that is bicycling in Johnson County, Iowa.
The month includes many family rides, breakfasts and workshops. On Saturdays in May there's Move Naturally to the Market at the Iowa City Farmers Market; bike or walk and receive $2 voucher. Closing the month is the Just the Start Bike Month Party, Wednesday, May 31 at Big Grove Brewery and Taproom.
Office of Sustainability and the UI Bike Advisory Committee willhave a table at Science Thursdays outside the Medical Education Research Facility (MERF) at the UI, May 11 from 11am-1pm. Take the bike safety quiz for your chance to win a bike seat cover, and other spectacular prizes! Children's Hospital will also have bike helmets at the Science Thursday event.
Established in 1956, National Bike Month is a chance to highlight the many benefits of bicycling, and encourage more people to get biking. Bike Month 2017 s generously supported by the cities of Coralville, Iowa City, and University Heights, Johnson County, and Think Bicycles of Johnson County.
