Volunteers Needed to Staff Recycling/Compost Stations at Dance Marathon Feb. 3-4
Dance Marathon is seeking volunteers to staffing the compost and recycling stations at five meals during the Big Event Feb. 3-4 in the Iowa Memorial Union. Volunteers will direct dancers and families to sort food and compostable materials in the compost bin, plastic bottles, paper and cardboard in a recycling bin, and place other materials such as wrappers in the trash. Slots are available for three dancer meals in the IMU River Room and two family meals in the Second Floor Ballroom.
University of Iowa Dance Marathon creates and sustains special projects to provide emotional and financial support for pediatric oncology and bone marrow transplant patients and their families treated at University of Iowa Children's Hospital.
The Big Event is a 24-hour Dance Marathon where students come together to celebrate the children survivors, remember the children who have passed away, and to fight to defeat pediatric cancer. At the Big Event, our Dancers, Leadership Members, and DM families assemble in the Iowa Memorial Union for 24 hours that includes live entertainment, DJs, numerous activities, and speeches given by DM families at the top of every hour.
