Recycled Runway

The University of Iowa’s Sustainable Events class presents the 4th Annual Recycled Runway at the historic Old Capitol Museum and you’re invited!

This year’s theme will draw inspiration from 19th-century fashion, reimagined through sustainable design. Students will debut original garments created from repurposed and eco-friendly materials, transforming reclaimed textiles and everyday items into runway-ready looks fit for an audience.

Hosted at the Old Capitol Museum, the event is presented in conjunction with the museum’s temporary exhibition Thrift Style, which explores historical practice of recycled materials being used for repurposed clothing and household goods. Recycled Runway connects those historic traditions of reuse with today’s conversations about sustainability in an incredible student-led effort.

Free and open to the public, the show celebrates student creativity, hands-on learning, and the power of design to rethink waste. Join us to support emerging designers, museum magic, and experience sustainable fashion in action.
