Biography

Emma is a graduate student in Sustainable Development at the University of Iowa. She earned her undergraduate degree in Environmental Policy & Planning. Her academic path has been shaped by a study abroad experience in Italy, where she explored regional food culture and agricultural systems, as well as a summer at Iowa Lakeside Laboratory in Milford, IA, which deepened her understanding of environmental systems in practice. Emma is particularly interested in advancing sustainable city decision-making that supports environmental health, food access, and community well-being. In her current role, she is working on the University of Iowa’s Bicycle Friendly University renewal application, supporting campus sustainability initiatives and alternative transportation planning. Outside of academics, she enjoys playing volleyball, piano, and traveling.
