The UI Bicycle Advisory Committee welcomed Bill Nesper, the director of the Bicycle Friendly program at the League of American Bicyclists, at their meeting on Tuesday, May 10. Several local bicycle groups and the UI Office of Sustainability sponsored Mr. Nesper’s trip to Iowa City and the University of Iowa. Mr. Nesper encouraged the UI Bicycle Advisory Committee to focus on infrastructure, specifically better quality parking for bicycles, including covered parking, and planning for routes and connectivity. Electronic counters are helpful to gain basic planning information about bicycle commuting and travel patterns.
